Pre-Press is a critical process in any print house. Our department is manned by 5 full-time personnel who have been extensively trained in pharmaceutical product requirements and are in constant communication with our customers to assure the quality and integrity of the finished product. The department is equipped with Kodak WorkFlow software integrated with the Management Information System. Lithoplate output is achieved through two independent Plate Imaging machines.
Printing is the fundamental activity of any print-house, and at Lewis Press, this has been given its due attention by investing in state-of-the art litho-printing machines. Management has opted to invest in this printing technology since litho-printing is able to obtain the highest print quality that modern machines can provide. The print machines are equipped with an Image Controller which ensures correct colour matching and consistency during a print run. This can be evaluated after print completion by means of a Colour Quality Report.
Similarly to all the equipment found on the premises, the print monitoring equipment is subject to regular calibration ensuring that all apparatus is displaying precise and accurate results. Furthermore our printers are trained in quality-related procedures that emphasise the importance of assuring the quality of a printed batch through a documented sampling regime.
Apart from print quality, pharmaceutical product security is comprehensively assured through machine partioning, documented and independently-supervised line clearances and reconciliations. The litho-printing machines are equipped with double sheet detection sensors and a software-enabled mechanism enabling the segregation of output having partial print.
The flexo-printing of pharmaceutical aluminium foil takes place in two ISO Class 8 Clean Rooms.
The flexo machines are equipped with web inspection cameras for the monitoring of print quality during the printing process. Printed aluminium foil is also subject to end-of-the-line 100% inspection.
Product quality and integrity is assured through independently supervised line clearances and in-process checks.
